Rejected.

I got an offer from UPU for my first choice, which was Electrical Engineering in the University of Malaya weeks ago. I had to reject it mainly because I have already gotten everything prepared for my enrolment in UNSW. I had taken my IELTS test (scored 7.5 for it) and bought flight tickets. If I were to back off and move on with UM, I would have forfeited thousands of ringgit, probably even more than the full tuition fees for UM. =X

This action made many friends or even relatives bombarded me with questions and criticisms, most are supportive of me but some are rather discouraging. I have to admit, I was being a little selfish rejecting the offer from UM, when most Chinese (sadly to say) craved so hard for an offer from UM but got turned down. Well that is the problem isn't it? Why would we need to "crave" for it eventhough its ranking is so low? If only the offers are a little fairer and based on merit. If only one day our country can wake up and realize what was done so wrong for the past 50+ years, or else we could only see more brain drainage to foreign countries.

As a Malaysian Chinese, no matter where we go, we are still considered as second class, even in our own country. We love Malaysia, but Malaysia doesn't love us. At least in Aus, everything is merit-based.

Moving on, I had just checked on the status of my appeal to NUS and this was what I got:

nus reject

NUS REGRETS THAT YOUR APPEAL WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.
ADMISSION DENIED.
Eat shit and died.
Just kidding.
