Prom Night

(This is a private blog, visiting it is strictly just for my close friends and myself. When you are reading this post, please be conscious that you are somehow invading my privacy. I am not responsible if you feel you are offended in a way because I did not disclose any names. In other words, don’t be “perasan”.)

I’m supposed to blog this a week earlier, but I’m just too lazy. For me, how the prom turned out was not really up to my expectations. A prom is supposed to be grand (although the organizers did achieve this when they pick JW Marriott as the venue); however the events that night were pure bland.

The theme was Hollywood Glamour, but it started off in a Malaysian behavior. The function was supposed to start at 7, but it started at 8:15 instead. Jessica Alba? Chad Michael Murray? Nah, obviously it’s just for show. Actually it was meant to tell us to dress up like the stars of Hollywood. Or just to fill up 60% of the ticket.

Dinner that night was buffet style, something my 120 bucks did not deserve. Actually I just ate only a half plateful, and when I went back for another, nothing was left! Anyway, I did enjoy the tomato sauced kebab, but the rest I believe I can eat in hawker stores.

First up for performance that night was Faizal from One in a Million. He started the night off with Chariot from Gavin DeGraw, but ended up pitching in his entering to the second chorus. The other guest was a rock band, in fact a rock band with a very pitchy lead singer. They performed several songs, some noisy rock songs that repelled almost 40% of people out of the hall. I sat through it of course, for the sake of my RM120. Frankly speaking, the few performers from our school sang better than the guests, sadly no one bothered to pay attention when they sang.

The whole thing was so messy. People were scattered everywhere; some just walk about with their “clans”, while some were glued to their seats doing I don’t know what. The emcees spent half the time asking the socialites to sit down, which swallowed up all the time when we get to free dance. The ending was just hideous: the emcees rushed to end it and we were asked to dance somewhere like the mamak store. Oi, very funny is it?

The voting for prom king and queen were obviously chosen by the committee. Even if they do it the right way, I will still vote for Arthur. The way they do it is just controversial. I doubt anyone will voice against the committee, for most of them are the “celebrities” of the school. Hell yeah. Hope I don’t get killed for this post.

Luckily Jaric asked me to join some friends for night supper (a proper meal that day). What I got that night was just a space-occupying cup as a souvenir
and some photos.
