Ain't this angle beautiful?
This was around 9-10pm at new year's eve. The traffic was in a total stand-still, as shown in the picture. And in stand-still, I mean the cars were there for the entire time not moving an inch from the spot. The problem is no one wants to leave Genting, and at the same time everyone wants to find a parking slot in Genting to join in the fun. To make matters worst, people double park and triple park on the side of the road, turning the 5-lane road into a 1-lane. Frustrating right?
I feel so sad for those people, wanting so badly to see the fireworks and celebration for new year, only to be stuck in a bloody jam. What's worst is that it's uphill. Those halfway up the hill, they can't turn back either, cause the way down the hill is on the other side of Genting. Many cars broke down, and tow-trucks were at large later when the traffic started to move again.
The jam only subsided around 6am in the morning, which means the last person to go up Genting only get to come down finally at 6. Happy for him?
But celebrating new year up there is nice. The crowd was massive! Everyone just crammed up the open-air carpark to spectate the 20-minute fireworks.
My sister took this picture from the hotel. I was there joining all the fun.
Apparently I'm going there again this year end. This time I'm bringing an SLR. Whee...
