CNY 08

Chinese New Year was pretty fine for me. It was the same every year; only people tend to grow every year. I used to think Chinese New Year is always more fun during the previous years, but after what I heard from the radio, I actually accepted what the DJ said. We have a tendency to think so because when we were younger, we just enjoy Chinese New Year for playing with our cousins, and getting loads of angpow. As years go by, everyone grows up and acquire more responsibilities. Some older cousins leave to study overseas, some even got married. We on the other hand, started to see Chinese New Year as a holiday to escape from the ever-increasing pressure of studies or work. That was why Chinese New Year seemed less fun every year.

I don’t know, but that’s exactly how I felt. I did not expect much this year, and for 4 days in Ipoh I did not think a single thing in my life. It was total break away from all my frustrations and unhappiness.

The only thing I regret was not catching up with my physics homework during the holiday stint. I spend most of the time finishing 2 great games of psp: Logan’s Shadow and Ace Combat X. Better to finish them now than to play it during schooling days. (lame excuse eh?)

My uncle did something unpredictable that is worth noting. He ordered a Toblerone chocolate from Switzerland and it was mailed to my grandma’s house on New Year’s Eve. It ain’t any normal Toblerone chocolate bars you see in shops.

It was a triple XL version. 4.5 kg. No joke.

Too bad I didn’t take photos during the process of cutting it up. One triangle piece was massive and I bet it would take hours to finish one alone.

Anyways, Happy Chinese New Year people!
